Hi Louis,

Thank you for the great article and links!

I have a few comments/questions:

  • It seems to me that most legacy organisations are trying to shift towards your AI first model because they already have the data and have decided to build in-house Data Science teams to leverage it.
  • I also find that a lot of the legacy players are either weary of running a POC with an AI startup and when they do, it’s (slow) and mainly to learn about the space as opposed to actually buying the AI solution — at the same time they’ve just recruited and trained an expensive DS team…
  • How can AI-first startups emerge in the first place in B2B when it’s very difficult to extract “proprietary” data? i.e. it seems to me that most of this data is just scraped, which isn’t always straight forward but isn’t impossible for someone else to do either.
  • Legacy players don’t like to share their data and nearly all of them ask for on-premise deployments which is challenging for the AI-first feedback loop.
  • Wouldn’t the next wave of AI-first B2B startups instead be ML without accessing data or models?

I look forward to your thoughts and response!

Best wishes,
Charles
